Project Summary:
This project centered around designing interactive, child-friendly illustrations for the “Watch Over the City” exhibition at the Gendarmerie Museum. The objective was to create a visually engaging experience that introduces young visitors to the role of the gendarmerie in protecting and serving the community, all through a fun and accessible format.
Concept and Character Design
To bring this vision to life, I designed two child characters who serve as friendly guides throughout the exhibition path. The characters were created to be relatable and engaging, with a style that appeals to children and encourages them to immerse themselves in the learning experience. Their design incorporated playful elements while maintaining a visual connection to the exhibition’s themes of safety, community, and service.
Booklet Design
In addition to the character illustrations, I created the cover design for the activity booklets that children use to follow the exhibition’s interactive trail. The booklet serves as a companion on their tour, with activities that encourage them to think critically and engage with the exhibits. The cover was designed to be inviting and lively, capturing the essence of the characters and setting an enthusiastic tone for the journey ahead.
Goals and Future Adaptability
The ultimate goal was to establish a foundation for a dedicated children’s pathway within the museum. This pathway not only enhances the current exhibition but is adaptable, allowing it to be customized for future exhibits. The illustrations and design elements are versatile, enabling the museum to incorporate them into upcoming themes while maintaining continuity in the children’s experience.
